Spanish language classes

Helen is the founder of Wight Languages and with extensive experience of living and working abroad teaching both Spanish and English, she returned to the Island in the summer of 2020 with the idea of opening a small, friendly and welcoming language school.

Helen’s vision is to make language classes accessible to all adults who still want face-to-face classes and hopes to eventually have classes in several Island towns.

With a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages, as well as a Trinity CertTESOL to teach English to speakers of other languages, Helen is well-qualified to teach Spanish and English. Alongside ten years’ experience teaching both adults and children in different educational institutions, such as schools, adult education centres, private academies and online, Helen is well equipped to help people improve their language skills.

With classes in Ryde, Cowes and Newport, already operating, Helen is aiming for Wight Languages to become the Island’s premier provider of teaching Spanish and English for adults.

Wight Language’s vision is to be the “go to” provider of English classes for people who speak other languages. The Island has a diverse overseas community, with many people working in the Island’s main employment areas – Tourism, Healthcare and Agriculture.

If you are an Island business that employs overseas workers, please get in touch to see how we can help improve your employee’s English.

If you want to visit the Island and experience all it has to offer, alongside learning English, then we can help you achieve this. Please contact us for further information.

Spain is a fascinating and beautiful country and having lived there for several years and qualifying as a Spanish teacher, Helen wants to share her love of Spain and the Spanish speaking world, with you.

Wight Languages is now working together with a company called "Language for Fun" to bring Spanish language classes to adults in towns around the Island.  We have opened more Spanish classes in Ryde, Newport and Cowes and offer different levels, from beginner* to advanced*, depending on your current knowledge and experience of learning Spanish. We aim to reach as many people as possible and give everyone the chance to start learning this popular language.

Please get in touch to find out more about our classes or click here to make an enquiry.

“It is a nice small class and all beginners. I have enjoyed the classes so far. Helen the teacher is very patient and makes the lesson each week fun and varied. Good value for money each week and professionally put together in slides that are easy to follow. Cannot wait for my lesson each week.”

"I can only think of positive things about her teaching: In the classroom, she provides such a friendly and easy going environment to learn, it always made the classes flow comfortably and motivated us to engage with the activities. Face-to-face teaching was also a great and rewarding experience. She is communicative, flexible, and understandable with the students’ needs. She’s a caring and dedicated teacher, I would recommend her without a doubt. Helen rocks!"

"I highly recommend Helen as an English teacher because she is an easy-going, responsible, and very kind person. As a student, I would say her classes were very enjoyable, and they passed quickly.

I really had fun with her, and I'll always remember the classes. For example, I remember asking questions according to our level one student to another. She wants you talk as much as possible so you can learn from your mistakes quickly and every day."
